Following extensive testing and prototyping, Avant Mater introduces its first lighting collection made with bio-resins and MACA, a stone-like biomaterial made from discarded macadamia shells. Designed and made in Australia, the collection works with locally sourced resources to develop new material expressions.
Future materials in practice
Avant Mater’s projects extend its material research into furniture, objects and interiors. Through collaborations and commissions, the studio tests how biomaterials can be used in different applications, allowing their properties to inform the design outcome.
